Just Finished

bad-feminist-roxane-gayLast night, I finished up Roxane Gay’s Bad Feminist as my nieces crawled around my guest bed. “That the bible?” the two-year-old asked.

{Note: There were some ideas in here that were refreshing to read, and some passages that articulated how I sometimes feel. I am proud to be independent (able to support myself and on occasion, others), but am still very much a southern girl at heart who appreciates an old-fashioned courtship. To the latter, sometimes I’m inconsistent–I may pay for a date here and there without thinking twice, tend to avoid the games that plague the beginning of relationships and have never been great at implementing (or taking seriously) the various lessons in Why Men Love Bitches.}

“We don’t all have to believe in the same feminism. Feminism can be pluralistic so long as we respect the different feminisms we carry with us, so long as we give enough of a damn to try to minimize the fractures among us.”
